Swine Flu !?!

So, a week ago I had no idea what this was. Now schools, events, and athletic games are being canceled left and right. What??? I want to take the needed precautions for my family but I also don't want to be overcome with fear of leaving the house. I make my decision to send L to school every morning based on what information they are putting out there in the news. Is it 'overkill'? I'm not sure.

Keeping both boys at home will definitely not be easy. Today they chased each other around the living room and kitchen for 20 minutes.

After the chase ended downstairs we hung out upstairs where I got a good look at the unbelievable mess L has going on in his room. OMG! I know how my mom felt now when I had a messy room. It's not that we care that it's messy, that's part of being a kid. The issue is that we know we'll be the ones to clean it up. :(

But, I'll address that issue with Liam at another time.
In the game room, Lil' C made a very Seussical lego statue.

L enjoyed playing with his Pirates

that is until the shark came and attacked them. ;)

Yum! Yum! Cupcakes.

Today has been a stayin' inside day. The weather outside is questionable, severe weather in the forecast and the allergins are blowing in the wind. But inside we have watched movies, played games and even cleaned a little. But most impressive...I made cupcakes. ;)

Big C has been dieting so long that he requested I buy some cake mix at the store. So here they are. Wish I could virtually share one with all of you.

Don't they look yummy?

Festivals, Playdates and Soccer, oh my!

Spring and Fall mean festivals are plentiful. Today we enjoyed the Aspasians Art Festival in the square downtown. I look forward to this every year...and every year I am annoyed by my husband and boys who complain the entire time we're out there that everything is too girlie and they are ready to leave. But, I like to see the artists and specialty shops that bring their goods out. If they have T-Shirts with 70's punk logos and rhinestones, I'm In! But my boys don't care, and because I do everything for them we stay for less than an hour and I leave empty handed with business cards in hopes of shopping online at a later date. **sigh**

The art festival does have one attraction that L has participated in for the last 5 years, and that is the kids roping area held by the Sheriffs department. This year Lil' C got to participate as well, but I don't think he really understood what was going on.

Roping the cattle.

Watching big brother.

Not thrilled at all, ready to leave.

After we left the square we met up with L's bestest buddy, B. They went to preschool up until last year and have only had one playdate over the course of the school year so it was high time that they met up and played. We tried out a new park today and although I was a bit skeptical at first because of the lack of playground equipment, it turned out everyone had a blast. I can sometimes forget how far a childs imagination can go.

The kids played for a good hour and then we had to leave.

Terrified of the slide. my poor baby, I can't believe I could only laugh in the moment.

L and B, best buds!

typical...

boys.

"Look Mommy! A turtle!"

(they fed the turtle and fish all of the graham crackers and gold fish snacks I brought for snack)**sigh**

L slipped in right after this, but I wasn't ready with the camera.

L's soccer game was a noon today and we had to get to the field. They did great, by the way, won 4-1. L didn't get a goal, but he did offer an assist and got a good education at what playing with the big kids is like. The field is 4times the size of the old one and instead of breaking throughout the game they just kept playing and running and playing and running. He looked totally worn out by the end of the game. ;) But he said he had fun and that's what matters. Thats all I can ask for.

Storytime with Lil' C

I love the childrens section of the library, I always have. I love looking at childrens books with the boys. It's not all about baby books and board books, although I have a few favorites in that category as well. But I like the imagination that is brought out in the stories, the art work can be so fun and playful. One day I think I would like to write a childrens book. I am pretty inspired on a daily basis by the world my boys discover, perhaps I can share that with other kids and parents.

Thursdays are storytime for Lil' C and I at the library. It's 45 minutes of songs, stories and play. Saddly, today was the 2nd to the last this Spring and they won't start up again until Fall. Today, Ms. Katie (our childrens librarian), focused on growing things in our garden. She did songs about seeds and flowers and even through in the Itsy Bitsy Spider. Lil' C had lots of fun!The class is for 1-2 year olds, but there are several newly over 2's in there- so we don't feel out of place. Lil' C's not my big speaker, so moving beyond his No Baby and No Mamma/Dadda talk to be in a class with kids forming complete sentences may be a bit much.
At least for now.

Outside the library. Lil' C has a habbit of always kicking off his shoes.

Returning his Wiggles dvd we borrowed last week.

Getting a scarf from Ms. Katie, all the kids are going to dance around and pretend they are growing flowers.

Lil' C has his red scarf.
Who needs rose colored glasses??
Ms. Katie whipped out the parachute, but Lil' C has been afraid of this thing since we started going to storytime 2 months ago. Today, however, I got him to participate by helping the other parents move the parachute up and down.
Now we're having fun!
At the end of it all, it's all about the playtime!

U8 Soccer Practice

We started out the Spring season on a U6 (Under 6) team. This is because the rules state that the child must be 6 years old at the begining of the school year. L, needless to say, was one of if not the oldest on his team. Having played the last 2 1/2 years for this league he has become quite a skilled soccer player for a 6 year old. This means that being on a team of children learning the sport was not the most benneficial for him improving his game. Unfortunately, he had to leave his good friend Chandler behind and I had to leave Chandlers mom (no more girl talk during soccer practice and games :( boohoo) but, we'll see them next season.

Now L plays for the Cougars. This is the U8 team and L has gone from being the oldest to the youngest, but you can't tell it when looking at him out on the field. I can't express how happy I am that he has been taken in by all these boys even though he came in mid season. They all seem to work off each other and everyone appears on similar skill levels. He has really been working hard the last couple of practices. The coaches are awesome too. L really seems to like Coach Adam (seen in some photos below). I told him that I thought the coach seemed to like how he was playing and getting on with the other boys, he said 'Mommy, I think he thinks I'm doing good'.

You are sweety!!! :)

Kickin' the ball with daddy.

Enjoying some goldfish snacks after all that running with daddy.

Suddenly Sunday

Weekends sure seem to come and go fast these days. We didn't do much. The kids played outside most of today. L played street hockey with our neighbor, E and they seemed to have a blast! We can't believe how good L is with the stick. He seemed to pick it up naturally, so of course Big C sees a future there. ;)

Goalie!

After some slap sticking, they pulled out E's dads old cars. I love playing with these too, I have to admit. They are awesome. He had an old Batmobile and General Lee, and you know they are the originals, not the redistributed ones you find in the Matchbox/Hot Wheels aisle at Target.

Lil' C was totally into it. He got Hot Wheels from the Easter Bunny this year and they seem to be his favorite thing right now.

He's all about lining them up.

One of our cats, Sheen, also had a fun day. You see here that he caught a dragonfly. The kids thought that was the coolest thing!

Then we came in and all had a rest. Back to school tomorrow. ;)

L comfy taking up the entire couch. ;)

Foggy Saturday

I love when the house is quiet like it is now. It always seems to go from complete chaos to quiet bliss around this time everyday. Gosh, I love nap time. :)
We started out the day quite lazily. The boys and I watched Toy Story 2 in bed while Big C ran to get his tire fixed. I really enjoy the 15 minutes of peace while the boys watch a movie together. Unfortunately, today was soccer picture day and the joy of watching a movie in bed was not to last. Sadly our game was canceled due to the soggy fields from all the rain we had yesterday. L was saddened most because it would have been the first game on his new team, Go Cougars!
